Reflection.
My concentration is a series of different viewpoints of a typewriter. I wanted to portray the idea of change and nostalgia. By looking at all of these different view points you see how much life itself has changed because of technology. These different viewpoints give people something to think about because these antiques are no longer in use even though they are a very interesting piece of history. As I walked into my house with this typewriter my mom was astonished because she used to use them back in the 70's to take notes in her classes. Technology has taken over the lives of people all over the world. I wanted to express the importance of how much technology has changed the lives of many in just 40 years.
For this concentration I used my canon T3i and tried to focus a lot on my lighting and trying to get as many different views as possible. I had placed the typewriter on my dining room table because I wanted the sun to lay across it with a beautiful warm glow. The typewriter was also placed on a windowsill at school. I tried to get the same warm glow to go across the keys, but the weather wasn't that great so the contrast between the two sets of photos is interesting because one looks cold and dull while in the other the warm glow of the sun makes the colors pop. I also changed my position. I wanted to get a low point of view looking up because the keys would look like stairs and I thought that was interesting. I also thought it would be interesting to get a shot of the typewriter from underneath because no one ever really looks at the mechanics behind the machine, they just take it for granted because it works and who cares about how it works, as long as it completes its purpose. My main goal was to get as many different positions of the typewriter as possible without being too repetitive. I like the contrast of the different lighting that the two places possessed because it gives all the pictures a different feel so that the viewer doesn't feel as though they are looking at the same thing. I think that I was successful in achieving my goal.
