What is the central idea of your concentration?
The central idea of this concentration is to portray how even though man can destroy nature; nature will always prevail. In all these photos the cars are overtaken with vines, brush, and leaves. The color in these photos is strong because the color of each of the cars come through the brush and make the photo more intriguing. All of the cars are rusted and abandoned by man. Nature has taken its toll on these cars as well. The vines grow around them and the rain causes the cars to rust and look even more beat up. Nature has taken revenge by swallowing these man made machines.
How does the work in your concentration demonstrate the exploration of your idea? You may refer to specific images as examples.
The different viewpoints from all the different cars show how nature has enveloped not just one part of the car, but all of it. The cars are the focal point of all the photos in this series. It's meant to be that way because I wanted you to notice the contrast between the colors, the car and nature. If you look at the middle photo in the last row there is vines growing within the truck and coming through the window from the inside. It portrays how nature has no bounds. The lighting was important when conveying this series. Although the cars are beat up and consumed by vines, the lighting that falls upon the vehicles creates interesting shadows and brings out the beauty in both nature and man. In the fifth picture in the series you see how the light falls upon the car and you can almost see it through the leaves. The texture of the rusty car and the sharp thorns on the vines show the age of these vehicles and how long they've been sitting within the fields. Without man we wouldn't see the beauty in nature and without nature we wouldn't see the beauty in man.
