Reflection.
Direction 1: Disguise Within Photo
My subject matter as always is my sister Alyssa. I disguised her by painting her face with red as well as her clothes, putting make up on her eye to make it look bruised, and make her cover her face completely. I think it's a different concept of disguise because it's not something you'd think of right off the bat when it comes to disguise. She isn't wearing any masks or wigs, just simple red paint. I'm a decent distance from her a few feet at most. The setting of this set is in my basement. The setting creates mystery because it's just a simple concrete wall as the background and red paint as the disguise so you have to guess what happened with her and why she is covered in red paint. It's left to the audience to make a decision about why she looks the way she does. Halloween is what inspired me to take these photos.
Direction 2: Disguise through digital modification
I modified the photo by layering 2 photos on top of one another. The first was just a simple portrait taken in school and the second had been a photo I had taken at Walden Pond last year. I took the Walden Pond picture and placed it on top of the portrait and over-layed the images to create one whole image. I believe it made sense to caption the photo "one with nature" because humans are known for "destroying" the environment and to overlay an environmental photo over a portrait showed that humans and nature are one. A photographer or artist didn't influence my work.
Direction 3: Disguise through printed photo
I altered the printed portrait by taking the digital modified photo original and printing it then inverting the same photo and printing it. I cut up certain pieces that matched up of the inverted photo and glued them over the original. It didn't enhance the meaning of the photo it just looked really intriguing. I believed that the digitally modified image was the strongest. It's the most appealing to the eye and it looks clean cut.
